Flawed thinking on Lizard Lick Towing

My second post inspired by entertainment in 24 hours. This time, courtesy of Lizard Lick Towing. On the show, Krazy Dave realised that a quarter century of marriage to his ‘wife’ was meaningless as the reverend wasn’t ‘ordained and all that stuff’.
Planned or not, the response from Krazy Dave portrays the degrading, guilt ridden mentality of belief.

‘I was looking fo’ jobs and they was lookin’ fo’ preachers’

They lived happily and lovingly together for 25 years, though the sin is what struck him first. Don’t be like that Krazy Dave, look on the bright side.

What person would feel guilt for living with someone outside of marriage? I guess that’s where Mr Dave’s first name originates. What God would punish a couple if they were oblivious to the fact they were living in sin? As a result of someone else’s lies? Why the fuck is it sinful?

‘I’ve been livin’ in sin!’

So Krazy decides to please God by working for the church (I could be wrong here, it may be charity) to stay on the good side of the man upstairs. Why oh why oh why do some feel this is a good idea? If anyone feels like they are boiling God’s piss- especially for a reason out of their hands- then that person needs more self respect. I hate to see it. No one would tolerate it in the workplace, so why tolerate it at all?

Working for charity is great, but I am sure if a God can watch over us and observe our sins, God would also be able to spot a person using charity work as a bribe.

  • Fantastic: “Working for charity is great, but I am sure if a God can watch over us and observe our sins, God would also be able to spot a person using charity work as a bribe.”

Religion truly does require guilt and fear to function properly. It’s almost like God is viewed as an angry parent just looking to remove his belt for a good whipping. Then the believer says, “Oh, but God is love…” So, is that why you’re terrified of “living in sin” even though you had no culpability in the matter?

    • Hey Mortem Fide,

Although it is classed as reality, like most reality shows I’m not convinced. Regarding your first comment, exactly! Belivers love a God that doesn’t love in return, one that rules with an iron fist. The last thing I would want to do for someone who is threatening me is obey them, what an existence!

      Thanks for your comment 🙂
